What is it?

What is Creating Overflow?

Creating Overflow is the framework that grew out of my own journey of learning to invest. As I explored different investments, made mistakes, experienced losses and learned what worked for me, I began to see that investing wasn't simply about finding something that might make a profit.I needed to think about what happened to the money at every stage — where it came from, how much I was prepared to risk, how I could recover my original capital, what I would do with profits, and how income from one investment might help build another.Over time, those ideas came together into the framework I call Creating Overflow.

The framework, simply.

Creating Overflow follows a simple flow — a waterfall of small, thoughtful decisions that compound over time. Income becomes seed money. Seed money becomes an investment. The investment produces profit, which feeds new seed money, which funds more investments, which eventually overflows.

You don't need to be an expert. You need a willingness to learn, an honest look at your own position, and a plan you can keep building on.

How the Waterfall Works

Income provides the starting point. Some of that money can be directed into an investment opportunity. If that opportunity produces income, some of that income can then be directed into another opportunity, and then another.

Alongside these income-producing opportunities is an important part of the framework: the Long Term Opportunity. Its purpose is different. Rather than primarily providing income now, it is intended to grow capital over time. When that investment matures, the increased capital can become available for further investment or achieving some of your life goals.

In this way, the aim is to gradually build both income and capital — with each having a different job within the Creating Overflow framework.

Of course, investments don't always perform as hoped. The waterfall represents the strategy and intended flow of money, not a guarantee that every opportunity will produce income or that a long-term investment will increase in value.
