Creating Overflow tells the story of my journey into investing, what I learned along the way, and how those lessons eventually led me to develop the Creating Overflow framework.
Buy the Book on AmazonFor many years I thought investing was something other people did.
People with more money. More knowledge. More confidence.
Like many Australians, we simply worked, raised a family, paid the bills and hoped there would be enough for retirement one day.
Over time, though, the question of how we prepare financially for the future became increasingly important to me.
I began thinking more seriously about what I was doing with the money I had — not just how to budget and save it, but how it might be put to work to build greater financial resilience for the future.
That shift in focus began a much deeper journey into investing.
I didn't have a background in finance. I wasn't an economist. I didn't have professional investment qualifications.
What I did have was a willingness to learn.
Over the years I read books, attended workshops, asked countless questions and gradually developed the framework I now call Creating Overflow.
It wasn't built overnight. It grew one lesson at a time, through successes, mistakes and a determination to keep learning.
One of the experiences that shaped my perspective most was raising eleven children on one income.
That season of life taught me the importance of careful budgeting, thoughtful planning, making the most of what we had and thinking ahead. Those lessons in stewardship became an important foundation for what followed.
Today my passion is helping ordinary people discover that investing doesn't have to be intimidating.
I believe financial confidence isn't reserved for experts. It can be built by ordinary people who are willing to learn, ask good questions and make thoughtful decisions.
My Christian faith has also shaped my thinking. The principles of stewardship, integrity and personal responsibility run through everything I teach.
Creating Overflow isn't about chasing quick wealth. It's about gradually creating increasing freedom, one wise decision at a time.
Whether through my book, webinar, workshops or other resources, my hope is to encourage people to build financial resilience with confidence, wisdom and patience.
Welcome. I'm glad you're here.
I wrote this book because I became convinced that too many ordinary people believe investing is only for the wealthy or financially gifted.
I don't believe that's true.
My hope is to help people think differently about money, become wise stewards of what they already have and develop the confidence to keep learning throughout their lives.
If this book helps someone see investing differently, ask better questions and become more confident about continuing their own learning, it will have been worth writing.
